Unit Overview

Designing a Museum to Display Art Work of the 21st Century:

Look around you. You are surrounded by it. From the construction of the building you are in, to the designs on your clothes, to the decorations on the walls, and the music on the radio. Art is all around you. Just like every experience you have ever had has brought you to this moment. So have events, scientific breakthroughs, media, and performable art influences the art around you. This semester you will be part of the creation of a museum containing exhibits dating from the time of your birth until right now. This museum will have the capabilities to exhibit pieces of work using media limited only by your imagination. It is your job to search through as many mediums as you can using your knowledge of Math, Science, Social Studies, and English to find the pieces of art that will be in your museum.
Students will understand that art effects our society through digital media, performance, and visual creations.
